Police chief Raimundo Atesiano has admitted that he framed men of color in order to achieve a 100 percent clearance rate for burglaries. His scheme involved arresting innocent black males and pinning crimes on them.

On Friday, Atesiano admitted to his own crimes, where he directed three of his police officers to pin a series of unsolved home and car break-ins on three innocent men in order to perfect the force’s record.

According to the Miami Herald, he pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge of depriving the three suspects of their civil rights by having the officers frame them.

If he is convicted, he could face up to ten years in jail. He will be sentenced November 27.

Federal authorities condemned Atesiano’s misconduct in a statement saying,

“The vast majority of law enforcement officers across the nation serve our communities with honor and integrity. “We will not allow the minority of officers who cast aside their oaths to tarnish the reputation of those who protect us all.”
